Terms and conditions

1.	The FRIEND promotion code must be entered in the General Information section of the online brokerage account application or in section 14 of the account application form (No. 17230).
2.	This promotion runs from January 14 to October 31, 2013.
3.	The referral bonus is $100 for the client who made the referral and $100 for the client being referred.
4.	During the promotion period, the maximum referral bonus per client is $1,000.
5.	The client who made the referral must be an existing National Bank Direct Brokerage client for more than six months. The client being referred must be a new National Bank Direct Brokerage client.
6.	The referral bonus will be paid at the end of the six-month period following the date the transfers were completed.
7.	The amounts transferred during the referral bonus calculation period must remain in the brokerage account at least until the referral bonus payment date. Any funds withdrawn during this period will be considered in the calculation and may have an impact on the client’s eligibility for the offer. For example, if a client transfers $25,000 under this offer but withdraws $10,000 before the referral bonus payment date, he will not be eligible for the offer because the total amount transferred is considered to be $15,000.
8.	Any account opened to take advantage of this promo must remain open for a minimum of one year from the date of the fees reimbursement. Any request for transfer of assets to another firm other than National Bank or one of its subsidiaries, or any request for account closure made before the end of the first year of opening the account will result in a charge equivalent to fees reimbursed through the promotion, as well as a charge for the current transfer fees.
9.	The amount remitted by NBDB could be considered as income. For more Information regarding the applicable tax treatment, it is recommended to consult an accountant or a professional tax consultant.
10.	National Bank Direct Brokerage will reimburse transfer fees up to $135 plus tax for transfers greater than $25,000.
11.	The transfers eligible are transfers of assets or cash from a financial institution other than National Bank of Canada or one of its subsidiaries. Transfers from National Bank Share Ownership Plan held with Computershare are excluded from this offer.
12.	This offer is not valid for employees of National Bank of Canada or its affiliates.
13.	The opening of an account is subject to certain conditions as well as the approval of National Bank Direct Brokerage.
14.	The commission and fee schedule conditions apply.
15.	This offer can be modified at any time without notice.
16.	National Bank Direct Brokerage has the right to refuse payment of a promotion.

Offer conditions

1.	The promotion is offered from April 15 to July 31, 2013 and is valid for three months following your enrolment.
2.	When opening a new National Bank Direct Brokerage account, the “ETF2013” promotion code must be entered in the General Information section of the online account application or in section 14 of the account application form (F.17230).
3.	Existing clients can participate in the promotion by completing the secure online form or calling us.
4.	The promotion applies to all trades (purchases or sales) of Canadian exchange-traded funds (ETFs) carried out via our electronic services (transaction site, mobile site or interactive voice brokerage).
5.	To take advantage of the promotion, the client must hold the ETF for at least one day; otherwise, the regular fee schedule will apply.
6.	To be eligible under the promotion, trades must each have a minimum value of $5,000.
7.	Trades carried out through our investment agents or involving mutual funds, bonds, shares or options are not eligible under this promotion.
8.	The free offer only applies to commission fees.
9.	Clients must pay any commissions on ETF transactions. Such commissions will be reimbursed six months after the promotion ends.
10.	The reimbursement will be calculated on the total number of ETF trades carried out in all the client’s brokerage accounts with the same root. Commissions will be reimbursed into the account(s) in which ETF trades were carried out.
11.	Reimbursements will be paid on October 18, 2013 for accounts that benefited from the promotion between April 15 and June 14, 2013, and on December 20, 2013 for accounts that benefited from the promotion between June 15 and July 31, 2013.
12.	The amount remitted by National Bank Direct Brokerage could be deemed as income. For further details on how tax considerations apply to your personal situation, it is recommended that you consult an accountant or tax specialist.
13.	The opening of a brokerage account is subject to certain conditions as well as the approval of National Bank Direct Brokerage.
14.	The conditions of the Commission and Fee Schedule apply.
15.	This offer is subject to change at any time without prior notice.

Contest Rules

The “Subscribe to the Dow Jones Morning Briefing for a chance to win $1,000” contest (hereafter “the Contest”) is organized by NATIONAL BANK DIRECT BROKERAGE INC. (hereafter, “the Contest Organizers”) and held in Canada from 12:00:01 a.m. (EST) on May 1, 2013 to 11:59:59 p.m. (EST) on July 31, 2013 (hereafter, “the Contest Duration”).

Eligibility

The Contest is open to all clients of National Bank Direct Brokerage Inc. National Bank employees, agents, representatives, subsidiaries and/or contest partners, including but not limited to their affiliates, advertising agencies, suppliers, as well as their immediate family (brothers, sisters, children, mother and father), legal or common law spouse and any other individual with whom these employees, agents, representatives and affiliates reside, are not eligible to enter the Contest.

How to enter

No purchase required. To enter the Contest, you must complete the following steps before the Contest end:
- Visit the www.promonbc.ca/dowjonescontest Web page;
- Fill out the form on the website before 11:59:59 p.m. (EST) on July 31, 2013 by providing the following mandatory information: your account number, your first and last names, your social security number, your postal code, your email address, your birth date and your preferred language.
- Click “Submit” (a confirmation page will appear).
- Once these steps have been completed, provided your entry is in compliance with these Contest rules, the Contest Organizers will automatically enter you in the database for a chance to win a cash prize of $1,000. You will therefore gain one (1) entry for the prize of $1,000, as well as a subscription to the Dow Jones Morning Briefing.
- There is a limit of one (1) entry per client.

Prize

The winning client will be awarded one (1) prize of one thousand Canadian dollars (C$1,000) in the form of a cheque made out to the winner’s name or deposited in the winner’s National Bank Direct Brokerage Inc. account. The winner must be still subscribed to the Dow Jones Morning Briefing at the time of the draw to receive the prize.
A total of three (3) cash prizes of C$1,000 each will be awarded during the Contest Duration.

Winners can decide how they wish to receive their prize of C$1,000, in the form of a cheque or of a deposit to their National Bank Direct Brokerage Inc. account, when signing the Contest Waiver and Release form (hereafter, “the Declaration Form”).

Draws

The Contest Organizers, at 1100 University, 7th floor, Montréal, Quebec H3B 2G7, will proceed to the following draws:

For the three (3) prizes of $1,000, there will be three (3) draws during the Contest Duration: at 2:00 p.m. (EST) on May 21, 2013, on June 25, 2013 and on August 1, 2013 . For each of these draws, Contest Organizers will randomly select one (1) entry.
The chances of an entry being randomly selected depend on the total number of entries received, in accordance with these Regulations, during the Contest Duration. The participants randomly selected for the first and second draws will not be eligible for the subsequent draw(s).

General Terms

To be declared a winner, the selected participant must:
- be able to be contacted by telephone by the Contest Organizer within fifteen (15) business days of the random draw;
- correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question on the Waiver provided by the Contest Organizer;
- complete, sign and accept the conditions in the Waiver provided by the Contest Organizer and return it to the Organizer within ten (10) business days of its receipt;
- still be signed up when they receive the prize.

If a participant whose entry is selected fails to meet one of the above conditions or any other condition provided for in these rules, they will be disqualified, and a new random draw may be held in accordance with these rules until a participant is selected and declared a winner for that prize.
Within ten (10) business days of receipt of the duly completed and signed Waiver, the Contest Organizer will send the prize to the winner as per the terms and conditions described in the Waiver.
Waivers and entry forms are subject to verification by the Contest Organizer. Any Waiver or entry form that is incomplete, fraudulent or late, does not allow the Contest Organizer to identify the participant, or is otherwise not in compliance with the Contest rules, will be rejected, in which case it will not qualify, depending on the case, as an entry or for a prize.
All decisions by the Contest Organizer or its representatives regarding this Contest are final and without appeal, subject to any decision by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, for residents of Quebec, on any matter over which it has jurisdiction.
The Contest Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any person or cancel the entry of any individual who enters or attempts to enter this Contest in a manner contrary to these Contest rules or unfair to the other participants (e.g., hacking). Such individuals may be reported to the competent judicial authorities.
Prizes must be accepted as described in these rules and may not be transferred to another person or substituted for another prize.
The selected participants release and hold harmless the Contest Organizer, its advertising and promotion agencies, employees, agents, mandataries and representatives, from any and all liability for any damage they may incur as a result of the acceptance or use of their prize, in particular any tax impact resulting from the acceptance or use of the prize. To be declared a winner and prior to taking possession of the prize, the selected participants undertake to sign a declaration to that effect contained in the Waiver.
Subject to approval, if required, from the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, for residents of Quebec, the Contest Organizer reserves the right at all times, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest, in whole or in part, if any event or human intervention occurs that could corrupt or affect the administration, security, impartiality or conduct of the Contest as provided for in these rules.
The Contest Organizer in no way guarantees that the Contest website and/or any related site will be accessible or operational without interruption for the duration of the Contest Period or that it will be free of errors.
The Contest Organizer, its advertising and promotion agencies, employees, agents, mandataries and representatives will not be liable for the malfunction of any computer hardware, software or communication line resulting in the loss or absence of a network communication, or any faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible or deleted transmission by a computer or network that could limit or prevent an individual from participating in this Contest. It will also not be liable for any damage or loss caused, either directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, by downloading any Web page, software or other component, or transmitting any information in order to participate in the Contest.
In the event that the computer system is unable to register all entries during the Contest Period, for any reason, or participation in the Contest must be ended in whole or in part prior to the date set out in the rules, the Contest Organizer may, at its discretion, conduct the draw from the duly registered entries received during the Contest Period or, if applicable, up to the date of the event that ended participation in the Contest.
Under no circumstances will the Contest Organizer be required to award more prizes or award a prize otherwise than in accordance with these rules.
By participating in this Contest, the winners authorize the Contest Organizer and its representatives to use their name, photograph, likeness, statements about the prize, place of residence and/or voice for publicity purposes without any form of compensation.
By participating or attempting to participate in this Contest, all individuals agree to release and hold harmless the Contest Organizer, its subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, as well as their respective employees, agents, mandataries and representatives from any and all liability for any damage they may incur due to their participation or attempted participation in this Contest.
For residents of Quebec, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québecfor a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régiesolely for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
By entering this Contest, the participants authorize the Contest Organizer to use the personal information appearing on the online entry form for contest participation purposes.
There will be no communication or correspondence with contest participants except as set out in these rules or if initiated by the Contest Organizer.
For the purposes of these rules, the participant is the person whose name appears on the online entry form. The prize will be remitted to that person, if they are selected and declared a winner.
Waivers and online entry forms are the property of the Contest Organizer and will not, under any circumstances, be returned to participants.
Should any section of these Contest rules and regulations be declared or ruled as illegal, unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that section will be considered invalid. However, all other sections that are not affected will be applied within the limits permitted by law.
By filling out the form, participants agree to their information being shared with a third party and to receiving communications via email.
